National Grid needed a capability to coordinate data, allow information to be actively shared and encourage experimentation with technology, which is why we helped them create DataConnect Innovation Lab.
By establishing a shared vision and using DataConnect Innovation Lab, National Grid can foster a strong community where everyone is aligned toward the same objectives. Ultimately, this enables National Grid to deliver better and cleaner energy for all and is shaping a sustainable future for generations to come.Â

DataConnect Innovation Lab is shaping the future of energy in a greener and more affordable way by aligning senior stakeholders and providing a new operating model. An innovative internal website lets people submit, share and explore fresh ideas. There’s also a platform for experimenting with data and a custom tool for idea prioritization.
So far, DataConnect Innovation Lab has been integral to the management of a portfolio of over 100 ideas in just months.
One of these ideas, about robotic process automation, cut platform costs by 30%. Another idea, about the impact of dark data, reduced National Grid’s carbon footprint by 200 metric tons.
