The Position: Senior Interaction Designer

Senior Interaction Designers craft how the individual interacts with a digital product or service. This requires leading lead product / service research, concepting, information architecture development (site maps, user flows, sketches, wireframes, navigation models), systematic design, and interaction design to create powerful digital, physical and/or environmental experiences.

This is not a support role: you will be hands-on; executing designs and establishing a strong point of view for the User Experience on the program many times directly with our clients. Senior Interaction Designers are able to discover, understand, and communicate the business requirements of our clients, the emotional desires of their customers, and the context in which these two come together. You will be the voice of expertise through the design and facilitation of workshops with all levels of the client organization.

Having a strong passion for and understanding of user-centered design processes, systemic thinking, and interaction design principles is crucial for your success.

The Contribution:

• Plan, prioritize, coordinate, and conduct behavioral analysis, user requirements analysis, task analysis, conceptual modeling, information architecture design, interaction design, and usability testing.
• Design and specify information architecture, microinteractions, and user interfaces using participatory and iterative design techniques, including observational studies, customer interviews, usability testing, competitive audits, market research, and other forms of requirements discovery.
• Produce personas, ecosystem diagrams, customer journey maps, service blueprints, storyboards, scenarios, flowcharts, wireframes, design annotations, prototypes, or design specifications.
• Effectively synthesize and communicate research findings, conceptual ideas, detailed design, and design rationale both verbally and through execution.
• Manage the design process, drive decisions, track issues, and assist in estimating resource needs and schedules.
• Work closely with strategy and design technology teams to ensure that design requirements are achieved.
• Participate as a contributor to an interdisciplinary team that includes other designers, project management, business and brand strategists, and hardware and software developers.
• Plan and facilitate collaborative work sessions with all levels of the client organization.

You Are:

Someone who is passionate about user-centered design and driven to influence your own development. You bring to the organization the following competencies:

• At least five years of user experience and user-centered design expertise.
• Expertise in systemic thinking and strong knowledge of interaction design principles and methodology, particularly as applied to Web-based applications and consumer electronics.
• Strong project and people management skills. Must be able to function as a project leader as well as an individual contributor.
• Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as AdobeCC, Sketch, InVision, Pixate, and Framer, with an ability and openess to come up to speed with new emerging technologies quickly.
• Knowledge of capabilities and limitations of Web / software technologies such as HTML, JavaScript and CSS. 
• Excellent communication and organization skills.
• Masters degree in Human-Computer Interaction or a related design or behavioral science discipline.
• A passion for creating products that resonate emotionally with people.
